Worst Mother
68Mother
Mother is “a woman who has borne a child, a woman who is fulfilling the role of mother. as by adoption of a child.” Mothers show love, nurtures her child and raises them to be kind, responsible and loving human beings. We love our mothers. They love us unconditionally. Mother is a positive source in our lives. She takes care of us when we are sick, kisses our hurts and makes them all better. She cooks awesome meals, helps us with homework, teaches us about life and how to get through tough times and situations. Our mother is the very first person to feed us and care for us before we are ever born. She goes thorough pain to give us our life. This pain is called ‘labor’ for a very good reason. It hurts. Yet she is able to set that pain aside and rear her beloved baby. That is love.
Mother is also “a ropy jellylike mass of bacteria that forms in vinegar and other fermenting liquids used to start new batches.” This is a new definition to me. There are many other terms in the dictionary for mother such as Mother Goose, the imaginary narrator of fairy tales. Mother Hubbard who is the main character in an old nursery rhyme.
Mothers Day is the day we celebrate the one and only woman who gave us our Life. Our birth mother. In the modernworld we also celebrate other mothers we have gained throughout our lives. This use to be one of my favorite days of the year. I no longer celebrate this day.

Mother Nature
There are several others mentioned in the dictionary but not one mention of Mother Nature did I come across. I find this very odd as that is the term I went to look up in my handy, dandy dictionary. So I looked up nature and alas it was not there either. I am puzzled and determined now more than before to find a definition for Mother Nature.
Off to my friend the Webster’s Standard Thesaurus. I see a listing for motherly in one book that I have, and that is it. My new one I purchased a few days ago because it was a 75% off sale has a listing for mother. This book is titled, Webster’s New World Thesaurus. I really like this books array as it says, “A female parent, matriarch, mama, mum, ma, mom, mommy, maw, master, and relative. Now here is my favorite, “the source, fountainhead, and beginning.” Mother is the beginning of it all. Precisely the perfect word I was looking for. The beginning to my story of Mother Nature.
Nature
Mother Nature as I know it to be is about the weather, its various forces and the one who is blamed for a great deal of good days and bad.
Mother Nature to me is unpredictable, at times heartless, the cause of much destruction, and down right nasty. It sounds more like an evil step-mother, or even a mother in law, not nature. I love Mother Nature when she is shining brightly from above.
So I visit the old faithful, google search engine and find:
http://www.answers.com/topic/mother-nature
gives the Western Tradition of history and her origin. Nature is a latin word natura which means ‘birth of character.’ It dates back in history to the year 1662. That is a very old mother. No wonder she gets cranky and nasty with all her hurricanes, tornados, snow storms, wind, mud slides, acid rain and fury she unleashes on our earth. Ah, another Mother Earth. I am not getting into that even though it is very closely associated to Mother Nature. That could be a whole other article.
My Questions
I am wondering why the term Mother is associated with Nature because in my estimation she is the worst woman in the world. She wreaks havoc on our world on any given day of the week, month and year. Mother as described above is love in its truest form. At least as far as I am concerned. There is a great deal of info about Mother Nature to be found on our wonderful internet, a world in and of itself. Who is the Mother of the internet? My guess is google. This also lashes out in a wrath of its own on any given day or on any whim. Perhaps google has something to do with me ‘being spanked’ and other online friends who have been unduly stopped in their tracks by the infamous google and its nature to be unkind to those of us who pay their wages by using this site. The cutting edge of cyberspace is not without its own form of Mother Nature. We have no more control over Mother Nature than we do over © Mother Google© . My new term for this cyberspace site and search engine and I have added a copyright to that term. We internet users have to go along to get along and when a hurricane comes through our life we have to clean up the mess and move on. We are caught in the center. So it goes with Mother Nature.

I agree with Dohn, Queenbe, I never thought of the connection so thoroughly as you did here. Thanks.
This was cool. I also wondered why Mother was attributed to nature as she is so cruel at times, ach well I have known some real mothers like that also and some have made headlines. Now as for the spanking....hahaha Mother Google totally unlike Mother Goose. Great hub and gave me first chuckle of the day. thanks Oh, I did already know the mother in vinegar.

I liked this, as it was a thought-provoking hub for the Woman of our World, so to speak. The Native Americans refer to our planet as Mother Earth in their Creation myths and it makes a lot of sense, as mothers are the sex that gives and breeds life. Thanks for sharing this.
