Wall or Shelf Plate Holder
63Plate Brackets
This topic was in the Idea Bank and since there is only the subject "Plate Holder" to work with it leaves my imagination wide open. To me a plate holder could be one that you can purchase from a department store, a dollar store or even a second hand store. I am referring to the metal bracket that will hold a plate on the wall for decoration. They are a wonderful item but I have found that the brackets will scratch the plate. To remedy this I put clear tape around the bottom of the brackets so I would not scratch my plate. Usually when one hangs a plate it is a keepsake you love and want others to see and appreciate.
There are many other styles of plate holders. They can be a cupboard in your kitchen, a drawer to hold dishes, a holder to sit on a table that can be made of wood, chrome, plastic, ceramic or many other materials they use to make the items we purchase. I have even used a cd rack as a plate or cup holder. It was one my son made in school and I cherish it. I wanted to display it but did not like how the cds sat on the rack. I placed other cherished items on it and VIOLA, I had my own holder. Imagination is a great source. Doing things like this is FUN.

Wooden Shelf
A decorative wooden shelf with a groove cut right into the wood is another useful item to hang and display cherished plates. They can be made of any type of wood and usually have a decorative glossy finish. I have seen some gorgeous shelves and the depth of the groove is something to consider when purchasing a shelf. You want to make sure it is deep enough to get a good grasp on the plate so it doesn't fall off the shelf. I have even put mounting putty on either side of the groove where the plate sits so it will stay put.
No matter what your personal preference is for your special plate or other favored piece there are several choices to suit your individual decor. Happy decorating.
