HubTown

I have visited some forums on this site and have wanted to write a few words about my experiences here. I chose the name HubTown while I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep a few nights ago. I do not recall seeing it anywhere and if I have used some one else's term please let me know. I have seen very creative lists for hub language and I got quite a chuckle from most of them. Being a newbie, I am eager to learn the lingo.

There are many very talented writers on this site and I enjoy reading their work, leaving comments, rating and sharing. There is a tremendous amount of wealth to be found by reading on Hub Pages. The writers who have been here for a year or more have extremely useful hubs on how and what to write. The instructions they give about how to do just about anything are very well laid out and easy to understand. They teach you how to successfully use my all time favorite site on the world wide web.
I have read many hubbers requests for help in one form or another and there are always people there to help answer your questions and give you assistance. My pet peeve is spelling and grammar mistakes as they just seem to pop out at me. I see many writers who do not have English as their first language and that makes writing in this language more challenging. I would just like to ask those who offer anyone assistance with their spelling and grammar to please be kind. It can be accomplished in a friendly manner without chiding the person who has reached out for your help. Some of the comments I have read in answers for help would be enough to make me quit writing on this site and any other writing I would do. It is not necessary to be cruel or make the person sound like an idiot because they have made some mistakes. Not everyone can spell correctly all the time and typing is not always perfect either. Not everyone has access to a book to assist them with proper use of grammar. They just want to write.
Please lets all use kindness and a charitable attitude when we are offering to help someone out. If you cannot write with kindness then leave the question alone. It is not necessary to yell at anyone with your pen, let alone a fellow writer and especially another hubber.
Hub Pages is an extremely awesome community of very creative and talented individuals who seem to be just like your favorite neighbor. It is a very lucrative web site to write about whatever you want to write. The team is always there for us and lets us know what is going on behind the scenes of their desks and the mighty computers they use to allow us to write as often as we choose. I see Ryan as the Wizard of Oz who stands behind the velvet curtain and runs the show.

I enjoyed reading this, queenbe. I really like how you view others. You are very empathetic and kind in your philosophy. I wish more of us (you know which ones I mean :D ) were more like you.
Thanks for sharing this one. I hope others will take notice.
Nice to meet you Queenbe. I like your style :)
Nice hub, I agree with you 100%. This is a very supportive community. Everyone should be treated with kindness and respect. If you have nothing nice to say then best leave it alone.
Very nicely written,
Sage
I agree as well to be constructive and not destructive. One can give constructive help every now and then without being hurtful
One common complaint is toward hubbers that post in bold or capitol letters stating to the effect that they're shouting...this I assume this is something derived from texting, but I was tought in college that bold or capitol letters are used to make a point and though should be used sparingly, this to me only makes me think the author is merely passionate about the subject as is their choice;)
I wish there was a kind, behind the scenes way to notify others of errors. I just saw a great Hub with a mis-spelling - a typo in the title. I, myself have done this! Oh, my! Sadly the word was Google - so the author will loose allot of traffic.
The Hub Page team is awesome! I cannot say enough about them.
Wonderful Hub! Love this HubTown!
Cool, you just write as everyone you are writing to is sitting in the room, like I write,
Nice hub. I think I am going to like you
Good to meet you

I agree, queenbe, that errors are best left alone, though I find some errors hard to ignore. I suppose I'm somewhat of a spelling snob.
Thanks for your Hub!
