As Time Passes

By and by
I watch and listen to the world around me. I hear how life changes for us all, some changes are welcomed while others are not. Life goes on day by day, seconds turn to minutes and minutes to hours and then days. On and on time and life passes us by. We can choose to embrace life or sit back and just watch.
The world my generation lives in has seen countless changes and I believe the most significant one is the introduction of the internet into our homes. We no longer have to wait for the news as it is at our fingertips. The mail is no longer just in our Post Office mail box but also in our e-mail box. We can see our family and friends from our home with the use of the webcam connected to our computers, which now may also be a netbook or even our cell phones. The world has become an instant society.
Instant Society
The instant traveling of news, peoples status in their lives, photos, and daily updates are available 24-7. We can do so many daily tasks with the aid of this instant society it boggles the mind. Pay our bills, no need for writing checks, addressing envelopes, placing a stamp on them and dropping them in a Post Office box to ensure they arrive at their destination in time to be posted to our accounts to ward off late charges. Now instead of an hours time to do this task it can be completed in 5 minutes after you have set up the accounts with your bank. How amazing this is. I guess it is comparable to grandma using a washboard to do the laundry!
School children
no longer need a parent to take them to the library several days a week to do a school report. Just about everything they need to write a report or an essay for class can be done online at the computer which can also be used to type it out and print it. Gone are the days of endless writing and rewriting, cutting the paragraphs and pasting them on another sheet of paper to balance out the report. It is now done with the aid of a fantastic software program that will cut and paste for us. No more checking the spelling with mom or dad who eventually said, "use the dictionary." No more were the words uttered, "how can I look it up if I don't know how to spell it." The software does this too!
Along with these stupendous software programs that help us write and spell with ease, are those programs that aid teachers and professors. These programs are designed to catch those who choose to copy and plagiarise the words that others before them have already written. There are several different ones available to aid teachers and I suppose they each have their favorite for the classes they teach.
Along the way of life and the countless changes it brings to our benefit, just remember there are also those that may bite you back. Be honorable and righteous, truthful and above board and remember this: "Render to Caesar what is Caesars..."

Like you I have seen many changes some 'good' some 'not so good' but I believe on the whole things are pretty good,
I agree that the Internet has made the world a much smaller place. News is virtually instant!
